The local NPR station here in Boston, WBUR has a series called BOSTON BRILLIANCE that introduces audiences to some of the brightest minds in the area.
Two of those bright young minds were scientists at a CitySpace event this week who recently started their own lab at the McGovern Institute for Brain Research at MIT. This week Bridget Ross was inspired by Omar Abudayyeh and Jonathan Gootenberg who shared their passion for science and how they are creating new CRISPR tools, including one they dubbed SHERLOCK, a new platform technology the pair hope will aid other scientists, researchers, and eventually practitioners in the molecular diagnosis of disease.
Abudayyeh and Gootenberg are out to make an impact on the world of medicine and agriculture, and are co-founders of SHERLOCK BIOSCIENCES which recently raised a Series A round of over $30M from Northpond Ventures, Baidu Ventures, the Open Philanthropy Project, and other investors.
